Hot Cocoa with a Kick

Hot Cocoa with a Kick is for those times when, like Emeril, you want to kick it up a notch!  Chocolate was originally served as a drink, and was very likely a bit spicy, like this recipe.


1 cup milk
1 oz very dark chocolate, grated
1/8 t vanilla
1/8 t cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/8 t cayenne powder


Heat the milk in a saucepan, then add the chocolate.

Stir until the chocolate is thoroughly melted, then add the spices and whisk constantly until drink is very frothy.
