Ever wanted to create your own chocolate bar? It’s the perfect Valentine’s gift for that special chocoholic in your life, not to mention great fun!
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, ChocCreate.com is offering our readers 20% off your very own custom chocolate bars! Just enter the discount coupon code “chocfacts” at checkout. Yum! (Coupon good through 2/28/11)
Custom chocolate bar companies let you choose your base chocolate (white, milk, or dark), and then add a whole slew of ingredients of your choosing. Toffee/banana/candied lilac bar, anyone? Er, okay, maybe not. But if you wanted one, you could create it online.
When we first found out about custom chocolate bar makers, we were really excited, because it was the first time we’d ever seen such a thing. Our hopes were quickly dashed, though, when we designed a chocolate bar and determined it was going to cost 10 bucks, plus another 6 bucks to ship it. $16 for one chocolate bar?! Uh, we’ll pass, thanks.
Since then, a couple other custom chocolate makers have jumped in to the competition, so it’s possible to get some yummy custom chocolate fun for under ten dollars.
We recently took a look at some of these custom chocolate bar makers and compared prices on a few simple creations.

Since ChocCreate is offering a 20% discount (enter coupon code “chocfacts” at checkout through 2/28/11), we know where we’ll be placing our first order.
How do they taste? We’ll find out in our next episode… But for now, a contest!
For you creative types, ChocCreate is offering a
$25 Gift Certificate to the reader who suggests the most unique yet compatible ingredient combination.
To enter, just submit a comment (with your creation) on this post by February 14 (make sure to include a current email address, which won’t be displayed publicly, so we can contact you if you win).

I love chocolate!!!!!
My chocolate bar would have mint chocolate with raisin, coconut & a bit of nuts in it.That’s my kind of chocolate bar
My creations would be dark chocolate with soft caramel, toffee, and pistachios or dark chocolate with lavender (lots of lavender so you can actually taste and smell it), soft caramel, and sea salt. Yeah, I like caramel
I’d go with dark chocolate, strawberries, and candied mint leaves. Mmm.
My creations would be dark chocolate with soft marshmallow filling and white chocolate chips
My creations would be dark chocolate with soft marshmallow and caramel filling and white chocolate chips. It would be so delicious for anyone that love dark chacolate!!!
This might sound weird, but my creation would be milk chocolate, pomegranate, kiwi, and banana chips.
Wow these creations look great. Would be great if they could incorporate peanut butter in these! Yumm!
I have two possible combos that I think sound very tasty:
1. Milk chocolate with candied almonds and bourbon vanilla
2. Dark chocolate with banana chips and marshmallows
Oh honey, this is just the best idea EVER! This is what I’d put in one chocolate bar:
Dark chocolate (of course)
Dark chocolate, muesli, granola, flaxseeds, and craisins
Dark chocolate, rice crispies, marshmallows, and a sprinkling of silver
My husband thinks milk chocolate, rolled oats, and bacon bits sound heavenly. I think he’s crazy.
This is my 2nd submission but the first was for my husband. I would like milk chocolate, blueberries, and some of those lovely rose flowers.
Milk chocolate and coffee. Not that expresso stuff just plain old coffee.
Mmm, so many choices!
Bonnie would like dark chocolate with apricots, figs, goji berries, and a big old American flag.
George says he doesn’t care as long as it doesn’t have nuts, so let’s try milk chocolate with butterscoth chips. He’s not very exciting.
milk chocolate, hazelnuts, cinnamon, honey
I don’t know for sure how this would taste, but I’d like to try milk chocolate, dried blossoms, palm sugar, and toffee. Fun!
Dark chocolate, sour cherries, apricots, yogurt chips
Dark chocolate, craisins, corn flakes, and gold flakes for a little added flair
Dark chocolate with ruffles potato chips. I had a chocolate covered potato chip once. It was amazing.
My dream combination would be dark chocolate, cinnamon, whole almonds, and a little dried blossom mix thrown in for variety.
Dark chocolate, caramel bits, and sea salt
chocolate!!! we love it!!! milk chocolate with lilac flowers and rose flowers and hearts and sprinkles and m&ms! and maybe a couple of gummi bears, LOL!!!
We have four entries:
Katie wants milk chocolate and cheddar gold fish
John wants milk chocolate, cheez-its, and pretzels
Lily wants milk chocolate, dessert sprinkles, 3 palm trees, and dice
Brandon wants dark chocolate, red hawaiian sea salt, mixed peppercorns, and curry powder.
I want milk chocolate, a palm tree, and peanuts. and stars.
Milk chocolate, M&Ms, bourbon vanilla
I think it would be fun to try:
1) dark chocolate, coconut, sesame seeds, yogurt chips, and curry
You didn’t say if there was a limit on entries. If we can enter more than one, I’d also add:
2) dark chocolate, sunflower seeds, and aleppo pepper
3) dark chocolate, banana chips, pecans, peanut butter chips, and nutmeg
4) milk chocolate, pretzels, and toffee bits
Too much fun–I better quit here.
Milk chocolate with apple, rolled oats, and a little brown sugar
Dark chocolate and almond butter (preferably Justin’s). Yummmmmm!
My creation would be: dark chocolate and peanut butter chips, toffee bits, and figs
I’m going to go a bit crazy here, but why not? Mimosa flowers, lilac flowers, Cheez-its, and pretzels in milk chocolate
Milk chocolate and chili powder
How’s this for original? Milk chocolate, chili powder, chipotle powder, crushed red pepper, and one pair of lips as decoration. (I’m from Texas.)
Dark chocolate with pretzels and sea salt
Bacon bits? Seriously? In chocolate? I’ll pass, but thanks! Instead, how about:
Milk chocolate, espresso, and palm sugar.
Dark chocolate, shredded coconut, craisins, almond slivers, corn flakes, yogurt chips, bourbon vanilla
First of all, what are yogurt chips? Are they just solidified yogurt, because to me that sounds disgusting. My ideal bar would be dark chocolate, toffee, sea salt, and gummy bears. (cuz you can never go wrong with gummy bears)
